April Wine 2015

THURSDAY, MAY 28, 2015  8:00PM

Presented by: Black Moon Entertainment

It all began in Nova Scotia late in 1969. The Henman brothers, David and Ritchie, got together with their cousin Jim Henman and fellow musician Myles Goodwyn to form a band called April Wine, a name chosen simply because they were two words that sounded good together. Fifteen studio albums, three live releases, numerous compilations, a boxed set and thousands of concerts later April Wine has become enormously popular in Canada, the United States and throughout the world.

Ashley MacIsaac CROSSOVER

Ashley MacIsaac CROSSOVER

SATURDAY JUNE 6TH, 2015   8:00PM

Presented by: LIVE Act

Much has been said about the antics of the enfant terrible of the Fiddle, but only because he has had international success and notoriety from an early age and grew up under the spotlight as one of the most dynamic fiddlers from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. MacIsaac constantly pushed the traditional styles of Celtic music as he grew up and incorporated rock, pop, and everything imaginable in between.

A renowned fiddle player, piano player and step dancer, Ashley MacIsaac has performed in the opening ceremonies at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics to a worldwide audience and with artists such as Phillip Glass and The Chieftains. MacIsaac has appeared on the Conan O’Brian show, the Today Show and has been a spotlight at international festivals, theatres and halls all over the world.

The CD titled “Crossover” is Ashley MacIsaac's first full band recording since 2002. It’s a no frills recording, providing great music by a proud Canadian who shreds on a fiddle like no one else can.  Ashley describes this record as his proper answer to his 1995 multi-platinum record “Hi How Are You Today?” and while having made 7 more albums and ventured into many different genres since then, the album manages to echo his first big hit while also containing different styles which span the range of influences and musical textures that Ashley has discovered throughout his life.

Ashley MacIsaac is one of the most celebrated Canadian roots musicians of all time, having sold in excess of 500,000 albums worldwide.

Letter From Wingfield Farm

SATURDAY, JUNE 27, 2015   7:30PM

Presented by: Blackrose Durham Entertainment

Letter From Wingfield Farm
By Dan Needles
Starring Rod Beattie
Directed by Douglas Beattie

The show that started the Wingfield series back in 1985! When a captain of industry trades his pin-stripe suit for overalls and retreats to a hundred acre farm, the residents of Persephone Township raise their eyebrows. Weekend farmers are a common enough sight, but this man seems to think he can make a living with a broken down racehorse and a single furrow plough.

Letter From Wingfield Farm is the story of one man's attempt to embrace a less complicated world. In a series of letters to the editor of the Larkspur weekly newspaper, Walt Wingfield talks about the people and events of his first year as a man of the soil.

Rod Beattie stars as Walt and everyone else in Dan Needles' one-man comedy, Letter From Wingfield Farm.

"A kind of philosophical Will Rogers touch with a flair for the well told anecdote that is like the best of W.O. Mitchell"
CKLN Newswave

Author and actor come out "Letter" perfect... breathtaking scope and depth... Beattie is astonishingly adept"
The Toronto Star

"Dan Needles has much the same gift for gentle comedy as England's James Herriot of All Creatures Great and Small glory... Beattie spins his yarns with tremendous charm"
The Toronto Sun

Neil Diamond Tribute

Neil Diamond Tribute - Performed by Mark Thomas and the Gem Tones

PERFORMED BY MARK THOMAS AND THE GEM TONES

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2015   8PM

Presented by: Blackrose Durham Entertainment

Being a Tribute Artist is one of the most challenging professions as it requires a number of disciplines and commitments. Not only is a 'good look' essential, but a quality voice is paramount, especially when you've chosen to emulate Neil Diamond. Equipped with unwavering determination and a strong baritone voice (from his Welsh ancestry), Mark Thomas left a career in corporate finance to pursue his life-long dream. Mark has spent the last five years cultivating Neil's persona and honing his vocal skills to recreate the image and sound of not only his idol but one of the world's most recognized music icons. He showcases his ability to re-create the sound and showmanship that has made Neil a true icon admired by the young and old worldwide.  Mark has all the favorites, and then some, in his repertoire spanning Neil’s 40+ years of entertaining.  He gives a high energy interactive show each and every time he performs.  One of Mark’s entertainment objectives is to whisk the audience away, by performing that one song that brings back a fond memory. Having attained international status through countless performances in both Canada and the U.S. (and now most recently the United Kingdom), Mark's tribute act to this Legendary Star has become a 'must see' for all Neil Diamond fans.

“KEEPING ROCK & ROLL ALIVE ONE HIT AT A TIME”

Fifties and Sixties Rock and Roll, that is. That has been my life’s work since 1999. Through being a musician, and since 2009, a radio broadcaster too. I’m not keeping it alive single-handedly, of course. I’m just doing what I can do with my group of musicians and my radio program to keep the music alive on radio and on stage in whatever capacity I can.

Why? I love this music. I discovered it like millions of others have. Records, radio and TV. I was born in 1972. The resurgence of ’50s rock in the ’70’s with American Graffiti, Sha-na-na, Happy Days and my folks record collection hit me right between the eyes when I was a kid and I’ve been going back in time ever since.

Without a doubt the best rock n roll band in North America today ! D.T

Mike Mandel - Worlds Greatest Living Hypnotist

Mike Mandel - World's Greatest Living Hypnotist

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2015   8:00PM

Presented by: Blackrose Durham Entertainment

Mike Mandel's Hypnosis show is best described as "Comedy Meets High-Velocity Trance". Using nothing more than the power of suggestion and his rapier wit, Mike guides his volunteers through increasingly ludicrous mental excursions, each displaying a brilliant sense of imagination and creativity. They may fish for sharks, shovel snow from the stage, or discover that their clothing is inside-out, incredibly all while they are wide awake! Typically working with up to thirty volunteers from the audience, Mike Mandel is able to cause otherwise rational people to see, do, and believe, totally ridiculous things! Mike consistently provides an energetic, fascinating and hilarious demonstration of the incredible faculties of the human mind.

"Mike was fantastic - he has just gotten better, if that is possible. I have received many e-mails and phone calls from people who attended the show, and nothing but fantastic reviews!" - Barrie Construction Association

"Mandel is an intellectual and emotional arsonist, both igniting the spirit and enlightening the soul." - Algoma University

Featuring David Merry - Canada's Premiere Comic Magician
M.C. this evening by the one and only Glenn Ottaway

We are proud to announce that the Fundraiser recipient of choice for the Mike Mandel show on Saturday Sept 19th is - Story Book Farm PRIMATE SANTUARY - a portion of every ticket sold will be donated to help in the Relocation program.
