OPENING ACT: TWO FOR THE SHOW
Presented by: Regent Theatre
PART OF THE CANADIAN EIGHTIES SERIES
The band was originally formed in 1981 by lead vocalist and guitarist Johnnie Dee, of Niagara Falls, Ontario. In 1983 Derry Grehan was introduced on lead guitar, and penned “New Girl Now,” which won them a band contest put on by Toronto radio station Q107, and launched them into their recording career.
The band’s self-titled debut album was released in June, 1984. The album featured four charting hits in Canada: a completely re-recorded version of “New Girl Now,” “Burning In Love,” “Wave Babies,” and “Stay In the Light.” “New Girl Now” was also Honeymoon Suite’s first single to reach the top-50 in the United States.
Two more Top 10 albums followed in 1986 and 1988, producing hits like “Feel it Again”, “What Does it Take” and “Love Changes Everything”. A greatest hits package entitled “The Singles” was released in 1989.
Honeymoon Suite has continued to record and tour throughout the years and released 4 new studio albums since 2001, a live album, a greatest hits album and an anthology.
