The first class compartments of the Orient Express from Istanbul are full, unusual for this time of the year. On board is Hercule Poirot the famed and fastidious Belgian detective that needs to get back to London as soon as possible. He is able to gain a compartment with the assistance his friend Signor Bianchi who is not only making the trip but is one of the directors of the train line. A first class passenger, tells Poirot he has received several death threats and requests protection, but is found dead in his stateroom. Due to a storm and snow blocking the tracks the train is stopped and delayed until the path can be cleared. Bianchi requests Poirot's assistance to find the murder and avoid police involvement. While investigating the murder and questioning everyone onboard he discovers many had both opportunity and motive.
