*** Safe Hope Home, a vital nonprofit dedicated to aiding women and girls escaping human trafficking in Durham Region, suffered a devastating fire on July 4, 2025, which destroyed their treatment residence.
The organization deeply appreciates the ongoing generosity of the Durham community and beyond, and calls for continued assistance to ensure they can restore their long-term mission of breaking the cycle of exploitation and providing hope and safety for women and girls in need. *** While their work persists through a temporary facility, they urgently need community support to rebuild a permanent, safe space that can accommodate their comprehensive, individualized recovery programs lasting up to three years.
