INTERNATIONAL OVERDOSE AWARENESS DAY EVENT

FREE EVENT - NO TICKET REQUIRED
LOCATION: VICTORIA ST. PARKETTE (NEXT TO REGENT THEATRE)
This educational outdoor event is FREE, providing the public with information to promote overdose awareness and prevention along with a variety of other supports and services in the Region.
Numerous community agencies and services will be atttending this event to bring awareness to what programming they offer along with where and how to access it in order to reduce barriers. Attendees include Durham Region Public Health, Canadian Mental Health Association, Lakeridge Health Indigenous Cancer Centre, Durham Community Health Centre's Hep C and Harm Reduction Teams, Pinewood Centre, Durham Mental Health Services, AIDS Committee of Durham Region, North House, NA, NAR-ANON, Ontario Addiction Treatment Centre, Do Unto Others, Pickering, Ajax and Whitby Libraries, EMS, Safe Hope Home along with JHSD Harm Reduction, Housing, Employment and Learning Alternatives programs.
Guests include MPP Jennifer French, Dr. Steven Hayle (FSSH) and City Councillor Derek Giberson. plus a performance by members of the Indigenous Teams from Lakeridge Health Oshawa Cancer Centre and Durham Community Health Centre.
Members of the public are given a "bingo card" upon arriving and are encouraged to attend at each of the tables. Once the card is filled, they can use it to receive their choice of an ice cream or slushie.
